Southern Railroad workers loved Milos! I worked for Southern Railway in the late 70’s and on occasion our train would have to stop near 10th avenue north to wait on other trains to arrive from Sheffield and Memphis. The engineer would remain on the engine and we – the Brakeman and Conductor – would walk over to Milos near the railroad tracks, order burgers -no seating- and then take back to the train. Best sauce ever! We would show our Milos sack of burgers to passing trains. –Jerry Morton
I lived in Norwood on 29th street. My friend and I, God rest his soul, begged our mom and dad for ten speed bikes so we could ride our bikes to MILOS on 10th ave. We would park under the shade tree during the summer while we waited on our burgers, taking in the aromas from the grill. Mr. Milo would give us the ice tea to sip until the burgers were ready. I was ten years old then, now I am 55 and to this day I still love Milo’s .OH the fries and hot pie YEA! – Van James
Worked at Coca Cola on 10th Ave about four blocks from the original little business, no seats just two walk up windows. Two very nice ladies and Milo were there putting out hundreds of hamburgers everyday. Amazing that the burgers are even better today, still unique, a taste that only the sauce can give you. I have been gone from Birmingham since 1964 when I was drafted by the army. Lived all over, and just moved to Double Springs, Al, 23 miles from Jasper, Al, and there was Milo’s. We are so happy! – Denton Henderson
I first discovered Milo’s this past July. I went to Auburn for a business trip then made my way to Fairfield for a friend’s family reunion. She told me about how the burgers had a unique sauce on them, the fries were well seasoned, and the ice was soft and crunchable – just how I like it. Little did I know that a late night burger run would turn into a love affair. Though I only had two meals from Milo’s, that’s all it took to solidify the special place Milo’s now holds in my heart…and my stomach. – Derricka McDaniel
I met my best friend when we being Medically separated from the United States Navy. He was a Brooklyn boy from New York City, and I’m a country boy from Bama. He would always talk about foods he enjoyed locally, and I would tell him about Milo’s. The best Burger and Sweet Tea around. I promised to take him there when he came to visit. Well, when he finally came to visit, I kept to my promise. He fell in love. He passed away last year. Those memories I will never forget. Thank y’all so much!! – Levi Payton
I am from Florida but am attending college in Birmingham, Alabama, which is when i was exposed to Milo’s and fell in love. After drinking a jug in two days, I decided i needed to go visit the actual restaurant! The restaurant and the food by far exceeded my expectations and was amazing! The sauces, food and obviously the tea were delicious! Being a college student, I love have good filling meals, for cheap, and that keep me full throughout classes and workouts, which Milo’s never fails to do so! – Samantha Lee
